Repairing a corrupt flash drive / pen drive / usb stick

Occasionally a USB can become corrupt and is not recognised by your computer.  The instructions for fixing or repairing a corrupt flash drive in Windows is shown below.  Alternatively, there is also a video below the instruction.  Instructions:

– go to the start menu and type in ‘cmd‘ (without the quotes)
– type in ‘diskpart‘ – and then ENTER
– type in ‘list disk‘ – and then ENTER
– choose disk which contains your pen drive
– type in ‘select disk 1‘ – and then ENTER
– type in ‘clean‘ – and then ENTER
– type in ‘create partition primary‘ – and then ENTER
– type in ‘active‘ – and then ENTER
– type in ‘ select partition 1‘ – and then ENTER
– type in ‘format fs=fat32‘ – and then ENTER

Wait until the formatting completes. This may take 20 to 30 minutes.
